A 5-year-old Cambodian pediatric patient, Linsai, developed aortic transposition that has an incidence of 5 out of 10,000. As the patient missed the golden period for treatment, many Cambodian hospitals gave up.however, he had a strong will to live and told his grandmother that he wants to live. The Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital medical team mounted a rescue mission. The medical team transported 20kg(a full set) of intensive care unit drugs and resuscitation equipment to Cambodia, and transported Linsai, who was hard of breathing, back to Taiwan. After an 11 hour operation to switch the transposed aorta, pulmonary hypertension correction surgery was carried out in the heart septum to prevent heart failure. This surgery gave Linsai a new lease of life. His oxygenation rate increased to 93%, and the darkening of the mouth and fingers disappered.
