Brief Introduction to Haematology-Oncology Section
Haematology-Oncology Section, as a division of the Department of Medicine, is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment for patients with haematological diseases, benign and malignant neoplasms, respectively.Besides routine blood tests, our laboratory also offers the following examinations: bone marrow aspiration cytology, special stain for bone marrow, cell surface CD markers, tests specified for anaemia investigation, lymph node and tumour aspiration cytology, chromosomal analysis, tests for bleeding tendency investigation, and coagulation factor assessment, respectively. Our haematologists are responsible for examination procedures such as bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, as well as fine needle aspiration for lymphadenopathy and lumps, to obtain specimen material for pathology investigation. Our haematologists and laboratory staff work together for stem cell collection and peripheral blood stem cell transplants, respectively. Our ultimate mission has been accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment for the patients.
