1. Introduction
The department was established in 1990 and was reorganized as the Dental Department in 2003, then renamed the Department of Stomatology in 2013. Over the decades, to improve service quality, the department was renovated in 2007 and now has 33 dental chairs, over 50 staff members, an exclusive operating room, and 9 inpatient beds. To achieve professional excellence, the clinical services are divided into nine divisions—Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Family Dentistry, Operative Dentistry, and an Implant Center—providing comprehensive oral health care to patients.
As a teaching hospital, our mission is to cultivate outstanding dentists for the nation, undertaking responsibilities in education and research. The department’s attending staff includes 1 associate professor, 1 assistant professor, and 4 lecturers. Continuous learning is encouraged to advance medical knowledge and technique, with active participation in research and publications. With excellent faculty, comprehensive training programs, sound systems, and a good work environment, we attract top dental students from universities such as Yang-Ming, National Defense, TMU, China Medical, KMU, and Chung Shan for internships, and we openly recruit outstanding graduates for residency training. We strive to enhance the quality of dentists in the country and keep our dental education on par with leading nations.
Providing long-term oral care for veterans is our fundamental duty, and our goal is to become a world-class oral medicine center offering high-quality dental care to the public.

3.1 Service Items
The department offers comprehensive oral medical services across nine specialized divisions: Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Family Dentistry, Operative Dentistry, and an Implant Center.
3.2 Features
The department is equipped with excellent facilities, including 33 dental chairs, a dedicated oral surgery operating room, and 9 inpatient beds, enabling surgical and hospitalization care. As a teaching hospital, the team boasts highly qualified staff (several faculty-ranked dentists such as associate and assistant professors) and offers a one-year dental internship and a two-year general practice residency program to train new clinicians. The department continually advances treatments like full-mouth rehabilitation, esthetic dentistry, and oral cancer prevention, providing comprehensive, high-quality oral care with the goal of becoming a world-class oral medicine center.
