    1. 先天性免疫系統是人體對抗微生物的第一防線,其中免疫細胞與非免疫細胞所產生的干擾素與發炎性細胞激素對於抑制病毒的感染複製扮演重要角色。然而某些致病性病毒卻會發展出獨特的機制以反制先天性免疫反應,進而達到增殖的目的。本實驗室針對宿主與新興病毒之間的交互作用進行研究,以提出創新的理論基礎,藉以發展對感染疾病的預防與治療方法。
    2. 病毒感染與疾病的關係進行探討,如病毒感染與癌症的關係,病毒感染與過敏反應的誘導與調控機制。
    3. 抗登革病毒與新興病毒藥物之篩選與機轉分析
    • The central theme of my research program is to further the understanding of the virus-host interaction. In particular, I study the pathogenesis of two emerging Picornaviruses, Aichi virus and human Parechovirus, and Flaviviridae Dengue virus. I use molecular virologic techniques in combination with cell culture and animal models to determine the steps in the disease process and to study virus-host interactions. My current research falls into four major areas. One research area is to understand how Picornaviruses cause disease, including the effect of the virus on the immune and nervous systems during the initial infection and after recovery. Another research area lies in identifying genetic determinants of viral virulence and attenuation and understanding the underlying mechanisms. A third research area focuses on the antiviral drug screen for dengue virus. Another area of interest is in TRIM proteins in innate immunity. Overall, my long term research goal is to further our understanding of viral pathogenesis and viral emergence in order to improve human health.
